Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The state capitol is also getting into the festive spirit.

Today was the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree!

The tree is a 40-foot balsam fir - donated by a family in emery in price county.

The ornaments on the tree this year - are all made by students across the state - and this year - they have some special meaning.

"particularly this year they have over 100 schools from across the state decorating the tree with Wisconsin specific decorations for the 100th anniversary of the capitol."

The tree will be on display through the holiday season.

You can go check it out anytime during capitol hours... Which are 8 a-m to 6 p-m - every day.
