There are many stories coming out of Barron County's clean-up efforts after this week's storms. One community member receives a special surprise from man's best friend. Fox 25/48's Amanda Tyler reports.
Ron Belcher is still recovering at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake, despite a broken hand and cracked ribs, his thoughts are with other victims that lost their home in the Prairie Lake Estates mobile home park where he lived.
"I feel terrible for everybody. If there is better awareness or they can do more to the trailer court to protect all of us everyone in all of the community. Not just everyone but the whole community."
Ron and his brother Michael were at their trailer home when the tornado tore through.
"I saw trailers moving and flipping and I tried to get the dogs and I called out to my brother...".
Ron and his brother were both taken to the hospital. As for Ron’s two dogs -- he thought they were lost -- but thanks to nurses, today the two pups were reunited with their owner. A happy reunion for Ron, who says it will still be sometime before he can recover fully.
For RN Ciara Rockow, who called up a local veterinarian's office and located the dogs, the reunion is a happy sight and one she hopes will help in the healing process
"It's a good feeling to help a patient be reunited with his dogs especially when he can’t do it himself now he can focus on recovering physically and not be worried about his dogs."
