The Eau Claire Express pitching staff has seen its ups and downs this summer. Even last night bullpen was unable to hang on to a late lead in which Duluth ended up beating Eau Claire 12-11.
One of the positives on the mound has been right handed starter Aaron Shortridge of California. Shortridge has been nothing "short" of an ace for the Express this summer as he holds a 4-1 record including a streak of four straight victories. In five games started, Shortridge has an ERA of 2.45 with 28 strikeouts and just six walks.
Express manager Dale Varsho has been impressed with the Golden Bears freshman.
"Aaron is just a huge finnese guy. He's a really, really good pitcher. He really believes himself and has enough attitude and enough pitches in his arsenal to get everyone out. Throw a change up; throw any pitch in any count that he wants. He's just a really phenomenal pitcher in this league. He is fun to watch and has just great character issues on the mound. He's just one of a kind."
