UPDATE: Names Released in Fatal Crash in Chippewa County

UPDATE:

 The Sheriff's Department said Zachary Evanson,23, of Cadott died in the crash.

He was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Mavrick Kolpien of Cadott.

The sheriff said Kolpien ran a stop sign and turned in front of another car, causing the two vehicles to crash.

Kolpien was believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol., but has not been arrested.
 

PREVIOUS STORY: 

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Chippewa County.

It happened around 1:15 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of County Highway X and County Highway XX.

According to deputies, one vehicle was traveling west on County Highway X when another vehicle turned in front. The two vehicles collided.

The second vehicle rolled and pinned one of the passengers. That passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said they believe one of the drivers was driving under the influence of intoxicants, and that person was arrested.

The crash remains under investigation. No names are being released at this time.
