Homes For Our Troops Supports Black River Falls Project

Several community members came together to welcome a new family to their neighborhood, a veteran who was severely injured in Afghanistan. Today, several volunteers spent the day laying sod, planting trees and flowers in preparation for Corporal Kevin Hanrahan and his family's new home in Black River Falls.

The national nonprofit organization Homes For Our Troops is supporting the project, with help from donors’ partners, to build a specially adapted home for Hanrahan, who was injured in 2011 overseas.

Hanrahan says he was drawn to the Black River Falls area because of family.

"Everyone’s kind of spread out here in the woods and having this big of community come out and help and show their support and be able to meet new people and feel like you’re becoming part of a community its overwhelming, it’s fantastic."

Corporal Hanrahan and his family will receive their home at a key ceremony event in September.
