It's National Police Week and law enforcement across the nation are being honored and recognized.
On Wednesday morning law enforcement around the northwest region of Wisconsin gathered at the Florian Gardens in Eau Claire to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Past officers were named and honored for their work and sacrifice.
Local police say it’s important to gather and remember those who sacrificed their lives serving their communities.
“All of the law enforcement officers here today are here to honor those who have come before them, those that have lost their lives in the line of duty,” said CVTC Academy director, Eric Anderson.
"We're all the same family. They're my brothers and sisters so it's all very important for us to take a moment to recognize them,” said Lt. David Riewestahl of the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office.
