For the first time, veterans and active military members will be able to get into Oktoberfest for free. The 57th Oktoberfest in La Crosse will be held on September 28th through October 1st. Fox 25/48's Jessica Bringe has details on how to participate.
The gates to Oktoberfest in La Crosse for active military and veterans will be wide open this year, with free admission provided by LHI.
"It's just an opportunity we're hoping brings new people to the fest grounds that never had the chance and it really is just thanking our veterans for all they've done for us and our active military."
While buttons usually cost ten dollars, LHI is covering the admission cost to recognize those serving or who have served our country for the first time.
"Service members and veterans deserve our support all the time so even if it's just offering them an Oktoberfest button so that they can partake in all the festivities just to ease some the hardship, we'd be happy to do that."
There is a limit of two buttons per person and you'll need to show an active military or veterans ID to get them.
"It's got an American flag background and that will make them stand out so other members of the community will know that they are veterans."
The buttons get veterans and active military members into the grounds for the full four days on both the north and south side grounds. With entertainment on three different stages along with food and beverages
"We're honored to have the opportunity to have veterans and active military come down to our fest gourds, enjoy La Crosse, enjoy everything we have to offer and have a good time and have lasting memories."
