Robotics Competition

High school students from around the Coulee region were at Western Technical College Saturday morning for their robotics competition.

More than 50 students from six area schools competed in Western Technical College's robotics competition with robots called BOE bots.

Students in the competition come from different backgrounds with varying experience in robotics. For students like Derek Dobbs this class and competition has given him a potential career path.

Students competed in four contests: a dead reckoning course, a maze race, a blind navigation course and an open contest. Regardless of the final numbers in the competition those putting on the event say they are all winners if they find a passion

The competition has been going on for the past five years and has gotten bigger with each year.
