Red Cross Assisting After Tomah Apartment Fire

The American Red Cross is helping eight people after an apartment building fire. According to the Tomah Fire Department, it happened just after 2:30 this afternoon at a multi-family apartment building on Butts Avenue.

The building was being evacuated as crews arrived on scene. Fire Chief Tim Adler says there were no injuries, but a cat was given air through the department's pet rescue kit and then taken to a local shelter.

The chief says all four apartments sustained fire, water, and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
