Coronavirus in Wisconsin: State and local update, La Crosse and Eau Claire, 8/12/20

Coronavirus

(WLAX/WEUX)-Eau Claire County case numbers: Yesterday, Eau Claire County surpassed 600 positive tests of COVID-19, with 16 new cases reported by the City-County Health Department. Total number of deaths remains at 4.  32 cases have required hospitalizations and 487 or close to 80 percent of all cases are recovered.

Chippewa Falls case numbers
Chippewa county adds five more cases since yesterday to move up to 249.  32 cases remain active.  With the rest released from isolation.

Since last Wednesday, the Chippewa County Public Health Department has seen an increase of 29 new COVID-19 cases and re-inforced the need for more people to get tested.

“We are seeing individuals going in for testing which is great. So we are still about that 500 mark, which is like the lower end of what we want or average to be. If you’ve been around anybody that potentially was sick, you should go get tested because you could be asymptomatic,” said Kristen Kelm, RN Chippewa County Department of Public Health.

La Crosse County case numbers
La Crosse County is reporting 14 new cases today for a total of 939.  Also announced yesterday, a National Guard testing site next Monday, August 17th at the Health and Human services building from 10 am until 6 pm.

Wisconsin case numbers
Today’s figures for the state show an increase of 478 positive cases, the total now above 62,000.  Five more deaths increases the figure to 1,011 and slightly more than 84 percent of all cases are now recovered.
