Biden Administration officials and China’s top diplomat are now having conversations. The two sides, talking over the phone last week. The top foreign policy aide to Chinese leader Xi Jinping, speaking with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. The diplomat, telling Blinken during the call the U.S. should “correct recent mistakes, and work with China to promote the healthy and stable development of China-U.S. relations by upholding the spirit of non-conflict, non-confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation.” Blinken, telling Beijing the U.S. will stand up for human rights and democratic values. The two sides, talking after China completed a record week of U.S. corn purchases to close out January.

Officers found a pet Boa Constrictor that had somehow gotten itself stuck in the dashboard of his owner’s car. The snake was removed unharmed. The officers are okay, too, and the snake is now back in his home.
