Corey Flournoy is back and the conversation is always thought provoking. We cover everything from driverless tractors, the future of agriculture and something called unconscious bias. Corey won’t tell you how to think, but he always helps us all to simply think about what we do and how we do it.
“Farming the Countryside” is a weekly, farmer-focused broadcast with topics of interest to those in production agriculture and rural America. Andrew McCrea began the show in 2018. It is produced by Farm Journal.
Is this a podcast or a weekend show?
Both. We began “Farming the Countryside” as a podcast and it remains available on podcast platforms. We received interest from radio stations in airing this as a weekend broadcast and now make it available to download and play on local radio stations.
What are the topics?
Our topics include crops, livestock, marketing, tax and succession planning, sustainable farming, ag
technology, rural and community improvement and other topics of interest to those in agriculture.
What is the length of the program?
The feedback we have received from stations is that they are looking for a “half-hour” weekend program that is about 25 minutes in length to allow for news/weather/ads/etc. Knowing that weekends often have a little flexibility, yet stations need reliability, we are making each broadcast from 25:00 to 26:00 minutes in length. We also offer a version with a mid-program break for those who wish to insert local sponsors or other local information.
How do I air the broadcast?
We post a new show each week by 9AM eastern time on Friday. You can preview the show at: https://omny.fm/shows/farming-the-countryside-with-andrew-mccrea. We also provide a SFTP download site for use with automated systems.
Is there a contract?
We simply ask that you let us know that you are airing the broadcast and that you air it in its entirety. There are no other requirements.
Can we sell local sponsorships?
Yes. Please make the program something that works for your local sponsors as well.
