Global Food Prices Inch Towards Record Levels

Food prices around the world continue to increase, now nearing record highs. There are also rising fears of increasing global hunger that’s already at a multiyear high.

John Deere says striking union workers have seen their best and last offer. In a statement, Deere listed off details of the contract, including an immediate 10-percent wage increase and 30-percent wage increases over the term of contract and healthcare with zero-dollar premiums. More than half of the union voted the offer down this week believing the company could do better. Deere says its hopeful employees will take another look and vote in favor of the 6-year contract.

And remember FarmVille? It’s been 12-years since the game became a hit thanks to Facebook. The original game shut down last year when Adobe ended its support for Flash Player. Now, it’s back with a new mobile platform called FarmVille 3. Its creators say it will feature a whole host of animals to nurture, plus you’ll be able to plant and harvest crops.
