Besides the race for President, there are several other key races we’ll be watching as part of AgVote 2020. There are nearly 2 dozen races occurring for members of the House Agriculture Committee. One of them is between Democratic chairman, Collin Peterson and Republican challenger, Michelle Fischbach. The Minnesota district is the largest for sugar beet production There aren’t as many races impacting the Senate Agriculture Committee, but one key senate race to watch is between Iowa incumbent Republican Senator Joni Ernst and Democratic challenger Theresa Greenfield. A new Des Moines Register poll, showing Ernst with a 4-point advantage over Greenfield.
It’s believed to be one of the largest restaurant deals in history. The parent company of Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins has agreed to sell itself to Inspire Brands. Inspire Brands owns Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Sonic Drive-In. It’s reported to be an all-cash deal that will take the Dunkin’ Brands Group private. It is valued at about 11.3-billion dollars.
There’s a new world’s record for the largest cantaloupe. This cantaloupe was grown by Doug English, weighed in at 71.6 pounds. The previous world record was 69-point-6 pounds. The seed used to grow the giant fruit came from a 20-18 world-record cantaloupe.
