As we learn of positive developments regarding a vaccine for the coronavirus. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is tasking researchers at Kansas State University with carving out answers to how COVID-19 survives in meat processing plants. A group of researchers, looking at everything from chilled temperatures, to ample air flow. They’re also looking to see if CDC guidelines for other facilities work for meat processors. The research, putting a priority on not only the overall food supply chain, but the essential workforce working in these environments. The project is funded by an emergency program, meaning USDA wants rapid results.
McDonald’s is rolling out its own version of a plant-based burger. The company announcing it will be called “McPlant”. It says it will be testing the new menu item in select regions around the world in 20-21. It also says there will be a new Crispy Chicken Sandwich early next year.
The Dairy Checkoff is partnering with the video game Minecraft to help promote dairy products and reach younger consumers, also known as the “Gen Z”. Dairy Management Incorporated is teaming up with four well-known gaming influencers to help spread a positive message about sustainable dairy farming. Each gamer will be able to visit a dairy farm virtually to learn about different sustainability practices. And then build their own dairy farm in Minecraft.
