Members of AmeriCorps Eclipse program gathered today to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Around fifty volunteers broke into groups to serve six different nonprofit organizations throughout the Eau Claire area.
Some of the projects the volunteers participated in include; packaging food for the food bank as well as cleaning the Humane Association. One organizer said the AmeriCorps volunteers enjoy making a difference in the community.
Jennifer Krueger: “We’re just excited to be here today. We’re excited we could do this on our day off and still get out there, even though it’s cold. A lot of these organizations just don’t have time for this. So this makes a big difference to them. We are just excited to be a part of it.”
AmeriCorps Eclipse is a group of UW-Eau Claire students that work with preschool-aged children on reading, writing, and social skills in order to prepare them for kindergarten.
