Amusement Ride Goes Wrong

It’s called the “Catapult”.  Video shows the bungee cord snapping just as the riders are about to be launched in the air.

The two families say they could have died. It’s a moment two thrill seekers and their families won’t soon forget.  A bungee rope on a ride called “The Catapult” snaps, slamming into the concrete.  “There was like a 4 inch deep hole.” 13-year old Trevor Larson and family friend Carrie Sueker explained what happened:  Carrie:  “We could tell from the expressions on our friends faces, friends and families faces that something had gone terribly wrong.” Trevor:   “It was extremely loud. I didn’t really know what was happening.  It was a split second, that’s how fast it came down.”

Trevor’s father Dru recording it all on his phone:  “I just wanted to capture the moment., instead capturing the close call. Thank goodness the guy standing behind them didn’t pull the lever to let them go. He was right there.”

Now safely in the Milwaukee area for a basketball tournament, the group knows it could have been worse.

“There’s a lot of what if, it could have hit us, could have hit our friends and family nearby.” “If they would have launched us and broke on the way back down, it could have killed us both.”

They are thankful their Summer adventure didn’t turn into a tragedy.

On Friday, the theme park ordered the owner of the ride to stop operation and remove the ride from the park.
