Earlier this week, the Feed My People Food Bank announced a building expansion campaign.
The drive kicked off in a big way on Thursday.
Charter Bank presented FMP with a check for $125,000.
The building expansion project is expected to cost $3 million and will more than double the size of the warehouse.
$2.4 million is already pledged, which leaves the food bank needing $600,000 to complete the project.
“Often times, we come up with great ideas about things that we might be able to do to reach people and they get a little stymied, because it’s difficult to manage within their confines,” said Emily Moore FMP exec. director.
Groundbreaking is expected this spring, and the project should be complete by the fall.
