East Texas police chief speaks on Dallas shooting

Dallas Shooting

Hallsville Police Chief Paul Montoya posted his reaction to the Thursday night tragedy in Dallas to Facebook late Thursday night.

“I don’t come to you as a police officer or as a chief of police. I come to you as a neighbor, as a friend as a family member, as a community member. I ask for everyone to give their prayers to the fallen Dallas officers,” Montoya said.

Dallas Police stated snipers shot 11 police officers in downtown Dallas. Five of the officers died.

Several people have been taken into custody. Police have identified one of the shooters as Micah X. Johnson of Mesquite. Dallas media reports Johnson was an Army veteran.
