An Eau Claire man will serve a lengthy prison sentence in a recent sexual assault case involving multiple victims, including children.
Trent Woodman, 35, was sentenced to 38 years in prison for repeated sexual assault case involving victims as young as 11 years old.
Officials said they began investigating after one victim told a teacher she was assaulted.
When confronted by police, woodman confessed.
Shortly after, two more victims, another child and a woman came forward.
“A couple of people spoke at his sentencing hearing to talk about how this particular case had affected them, I think the judge correctly saw that this was a very severe case,” said Detective Josh Miller.
“It is rare to get a sentence that long, in this case I think it was completely appropriate and well warranted.”
Officials say the case was a joint effort between the Eau Claire police department and the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office.
