First responders and charitable organizations are doing much of the heavy lifting in the immediate aftermath of hurricane Harvey, but it’ll take billions of dollars to rebuild and repair areas in Texas and elsewhere damaged in the storm.
Congressman French Hill says the conversation will begin this week about the best way to spend federal dollars to get these areas functioning again.
He says he’s seen firsthand this week Arkansans helping — including little rock v-a officials who are taking calls from people in south Texas.
“They’re taking all the call volume from the veteran’s hospitals in south Texas. made 2900 calls yesterday, and our men and women over here who are VA professionals are saving lives on the telephone: CPR counts, how to use EpiPen’s, it’s amazing – rerouting people to get medical care when 911 is not answered, so that’s another example of Arkansans pitching in to help.”
