According to the department of veterans’ affairs, nearly 80,000 vets are homeless on any given night.
Now, money will be made available to help reduce the problem in Tomah.
The board of commissioners of public lands is giving $180,000 for the Veteran’s Assistance Foundation.
This will go towards renovating four apartments in the Tomah area, providing transitional housing, rapid re-housing, and homelessness prevention for veterans and their families.
The project is one of six the board approved earlier this week, all of which totaled $1.5 million.
