A former high school basketball coach has lost his appeal over his conviction for a sex crime.
Today, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled 4-to-2 against Rory McKellips, a former girls’ basketball coach at Athens high school.
In 2013, he was convicted of using his cell phone to send messages to a 15-year-old student who was also a player on the team he coached.
The state’s Supreme Court ruled prosecutors proved McKellips used his phone to facilitate a sex crime.
He’s currently serving a 10-year prison sentence.
