Gordy’s Chippewa Falls Store Goes to Auction

A Chippewa Falls grocery store chain is being liquidated. The sale of food service equipment at Gordy’s Market in Chippewa Falls began this morning and continued through the day.

Piece by piece, Gordy’s Market in Chippewa Falls is being liquidated. From coolers, shelving, chairs, and even mop buckets, around six-hundred items are being sold off by Minnesota based company Grafe Auction. Grafe Auction says participants are getting bargain deals on food service equipment with much of it new in 2005 and then updated in 2014.

“Prices at auctions many times is dependent on what the item is. An item that is widely used might sell for 50-70 cents on the dollar to a new one. An item that’s more difficult to use, larger, has a lot of installation or tear-out, a lot of time the price is literally a penny on the dollar.”

More than 450 participants have registered to bid live online and around the same number are also attending the auction in-store.

Two other Gordy’s store locations are set to be auctioned off in the coming weeks. One in Richland Center and another in Hayward.
