Gundersen Health System has agreed to purchase the Wettstein’s building in Downtown La Crosse.
Gundersen plans to use the building to house its specialty dental services. Currently, the dental department operates on the fifth floor of the La Crosse Clinic.
Services to be provided at the new location include: orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry, and endodontics.
“Wettstein’s has been an iconic business in downtown La Crosse for more than 67 years. We are excited to purchase this historic building and be a part of the thriving downtown community,” said Gundersen CEO, Scott Rathgaber, MD. “This location will allow our patients better access to our dental services and allow us to continue to grow our dental specialties practice.”
Wettstein’s owner, Dan Wettstein said making the decision to close wasn’t easy, but said a well-respected and local organization will be a great asset to downtown La Crosse.
“While it was not an easy decision for Gerianne and me to decide to close our business, knowing that a well-respected, community-focused business like Gundersen was interested in purchasing the building, reassured us that we were leaving the building and downtown in good hands,” said Wettstein.
Wettstein’s is scheduled to close in August and Gundersen hopes to begin renovations soon after and hopes to open the dental clinic in April 2019.
