A high-speed chase through Monroe County ended with a fiery crash and one person in custody.
This started at around 2:30 this morning as a Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop an s-u-v on interstate 90 … Near the Highway 27 exit for Sparta.
The chase first went west on I-90, then, turned east before the vehicle crashed into a fence near Tomah.
It then caught fire and the driver had to be physically removed before the vehicle became engulfed.
An investigation showed the vehicle had been stolen out of Colorado. The male driver was not named and was taken to Sparta Mayo hospital and remains in custody.
