For more than 20 years, Italian food and music have combined for a fundraiser supporting local high school students.
The Memorial High School Orchestra’s 21st Annual Italian Dinner and Concert took place Sunday afternoon in Eau Claire.
This is the orchestra’s main fundraiser of the year.
While it’s a long-standing tradition, this is the first year the event was held at The Florian Gardens.
Guests got to enjoy an Italian dinner while Old Abes orchestra students provided the music.
“And it’s a really great opportunity to see really what these high school students are able to do. They play beautifully, and I love sharing it with everyone,” said MHS Orchestra Director Soma Pierce-Smit.
There are 67 orchestra members at Memorial High School, and the director says the money raised helps pay for equipment, tutors, and accompanists.
The fundraiser also included a raffle and a silent auction. The goal is to raise at least $4,000.
