Hendren, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A driver is arrested after hitting two highway workers in Clark County, killing one of them.

The incident happened on county highway g in the township of Hendren.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the two workers were clearing a tree from the road around one Sunday morning when they were hit by a car. When deputies arrived on scene, they found 28-year-old Cory Neumueller had been driving south when he drove into the workers and the tree.

One worker died at the scene. The other was taken to the hospital.

Neumueller was arrested and taken to the Clark County Jail where he faces a possible homicide charge.

Authorities say they believe he was impaired and speeding.

The names of the workers hit haven’t been released.
