A local librarian has been named Librarian of the Year by the Wisconsin Library Association.
Jessica Schoonover, director of the Shirley M. Wright Memorial Library was named to the honor on Thursday Sept. 20. Schoonover received the honor for having an impact beyond village boundaries, including collaborations with other libraries, businesses and schools.
Schoonover said she is honored to receive such a prestigious award.
“I am humbled to receive such an amazing honor,” She said. “At Shirley M. Wright Memorial Library, we aim to be forward-thinking, and responsive to our community by offering cultural and educational options that wouldn’t otherwise exist in our region. I share this award with my amazing staff, supportive Board of Trustees, hard-working Friends group and dedicated Foundation board.”
Schoonover will receive the award at the Wisconsin Library Association’s annual convention on October 25 in La Crosse.
