PIERCE COUNTY Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – One person is dead, and two children were hurt after a 4-vehicle crash in Pierce County last night. At around 8 o’clock, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash on Highway 35, south of Prescott in the town of Oak Grove.

An investigation showed 49-year-old Douglas Whaley of Hager City was using his truck to help another driver get their car out of a ditch when a box truck hit Whaley. That truck then slid and struck another vehicle. Whaley was taken to a St. Paul hospital where he later died. Seven people in total were involved in the crash. Two of them, a 13-year-old and a three-week-old baby, were taken to the hospital.
