EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin has helped secure more than $3 million FOR Western Wisconsin with the goal of improving public safety. The federal dollars are part of the 2023 Government Funding Bill supported by Senator Baldwin.

The city of Eau Claire received nearly $19,000 which will be used to upgrade equipment including new breathalyzers for city police.

The Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association received $450,000 to provide culturally specific services to victims of crimes like domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Senator Baldwin says, “Having support provided by folks who understand your cultural background is particularly important. And so, I’m really delighted to know that this funding will be it’ll be based in Eau Claire, but it will actually provide support and services statewide to people in the Hmong community.”

The Family Treatment Court programs in Barron and Dunn County also received over $896,000 to help reunify families affected by parental substance use.
