RUSK COUNTY, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A father is accused of killing his son in Rusk County. Very little information is known as the investigation is ongoing, but First News at Nine’s Phoebe Murray spoke with the sheriff on the incident deputies responded to Friday evening.

About 6:30 Friday night, the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call at this home behind me in the Township of Marshall. Deputies on the scene found a man fatally shot who we now know is 36-year-old Jesse O’Brien.

“Upon arriving at the scene, we found a male deceased,” says Rusk County Sheriff Jeffery Wallace.

59-year old Scott O’Brien, Jesse’s father, is in custody for homicide by intoxicated use of a firearm. Deputies say the caller claimed a fight was happening at the home.

“The suspect was on scene upon our arrival and was taken into custody without incident,” says Wallace.

Wallace would not say what led to the shooting. He says right now there is little information he can give out, as the investigation is ongoing.

“We’re assisted by State Patrol and the Wisconsin Crime Lab so it’ll take a little bit of time to get everything together,” says Wallace.

Neighbors WEAU spoke with say the father and son lived together at the home on County Highway G.

Wallace says O’Brien is not yet scheduled to appear in court as much of the details of the incident remain unknown and under investigation.
