La Crosse, WI – A La Crosse Rotarian is preparing to raise funds again this year for several non-profit organizations in memory of a pillar of the community.
From July 17 to August 27, Rotarian, Al Louis will fish in Minnesota’s Lake Vermilion for four hours each Tuesday & Thursday night. He and his wife Brenda have personally pledged $5000 and they are challenging fellow Rotarians, businesses and others to get involved by becoming a sponsor, making a one- time donation, or pledging an amount per musky caught.
Louis has done his “Musky Challenge” the past years to raise money for area non- profits–topping over $40,000 in 2020, during the pandemic! He has his sights aimed even higher this time, as he’s casting to support four non-profit organizations in memory of his friend, mentor, and fellow Rotarian–David Amborn.
“I wanted to pay tribute to David and all he meant to me by supporting these non- profit organizations that meant a lot to him,” Louis said.
Those four non-profits are the Coulee Recovery Center, Children’s Museum, La Crosse Community Theater, and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Already over $53,000 have been raised, but there is still a distance to go to reach the goal of $100,000 that will be split among the four organizations.
