Accused hit and run driver expeted to change plea

COLTEN TREU HAS BEEN CHARGED IN THE HIT-AND-RUN CASE THAT LEFT THREE GIRL SCOUTS AND A MOTHER DEAD.

TODAY, HIS LEGAL TEAM SAYS HE COULD CHANGE HIS PLEA IN THE CASE.

TREU APPEARED IN CHIPPEWA COUNTY COURT TODAY FOR A MOTION HEARING.

HE ORIGINALLY PLEADED NOT GUILTY TO SEVERAL COUNTS, INCLUDING HOMICIDE BY INTOXICATED USE OF A VEHICLE.

DURING TODAY’S HEARING, HIS ATTORNEYS SAY A PLEA DEAL COULD BE REACHED BY THE TIME OF HIS NEXT COURT APPEARANCE, WHICH IS SCHEDULED ON DECEMBER 16TH.

IF A CHANGE OF PLEA DOES NOT HAPPEN, TREU’S JURY TRIAL WILL MOVE FORWARD – SCHEDULED TO START ON JANUARY 21-ST.
