Air travel increasing both nationally and in La Crosse

Local News

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Airports are coming off a record weekend, and similar increases are being seen in the Coulee Region.

The TSAscreened more than two million people Friday and Saturday, the highest number of passengers since the pandemic began.

Just more than seven thousand people boarded a plane in La Crosse last month, and an extra flight may lead to even greater numbers this month.

Ian Turner, La Crosse Regional Airport Director said, “I’m really happy with where our passenger levels are at given everything that’s gone on and I think June’s going to exceed that, we have an additional flight with delta adding back a third flight to Minneapolis that started last week.”

The airport director says he can see the upward trend continuing.

He encourages people to consider flying local for their summer trips.
