CHIPPEWA VALLEY Wisc. (WLAX/WEUX) – A Chippewa Valley tradition that has everyone looking to the sky is set to return next year. A jet with the United States Navy Blue Angels flew into the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport this afternoon.

Representatives from the flight team are in town to start planning their performance at the 2022 Chippewa Valley Air Show. This is Chippewa Valley’s first look at the new FA-18 Super Hornet, which replaced the squadron’s older Legacy Hornets from previous years.

Lieutenant Katlin Forster spoke about flying the new plane in the show. “The maneuvers haven’t changed too much with the Super Hornet, but it is a bigger plane, more powerful, so it definitely looks closer to the crowd. You can really make out that US Navy under the wings, so it’s a very cool show. Last year it was a lot of fun to debut it, and now bringing it to Eau Claire this summer.”

The Air Show is set for June 4th and 5th at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport.
