Students at UW-La Crosse bowled a turkey today- literally.
It’s all part of the American Lung Association’s Great American Smoke Out-a day to encourage smokers to give up the unhealthy habit. The UW-L Wellness Resource Center and the county health department teamed up to bowl frozen turkeys in order to raise awareness and offer resources to help people quit.. Cold turkey.
“It’s a great event just to get people involved and aware of tobacco products and the harms that they can cause, so we just want people to come in, we’ll have flyers to hand out, and they can also bowl so it’s a great event for them to get involved.”
Forty-two million Americans smoke cigarettes and tobacco remains the leading cause of preventable death in the U.S.
