State Senator Brad Pfaff bids for 3rd congressional district, facing criticism from Republican Derrick Van Orden

Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Democrat Brad Pfaff announces his candidacy for the Third Congressional District today.

Pfaff grew up on a dairy farm in northern La Crosse County.

He says he’s dedicated his career to serving Wisconsin communities and family farmers.

In 2018, Pfaff was nominated to serve as the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Secretary.

He won election to the state senate in 2020 after the republican controlled chamber removed him from his secretary position.

“Sadly, politics has become a blood sport right now in Washington D.C. nobody wins, with that. We need to come together. It’s the western Wisconsin way.”

Pfaff will face political newcomer Brett Knudsen in a Democratic primary.

The winner will go on to face Republican Derrick Van Orden, who released a statement this morning calling his competition quote “just another pelosi-approved rubber stamp for her radical agenda.”

Democratic incumbent Ron Kind announced in august he will not seek re-election after narrowly defeating Van Orden in 2020.
