ALTOONA, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The city of Altoona is one of the fastest-growing places in Wisconsin. To meet demand, many construction projects are underway this summer.
Future single-family homes, townhouses, businesses, and more can be found in neighborhoods across the city.
In the last ten years, Altoona has seen a 43 percent growth in housing.
Altoona’s City Planner Joshua Clements says the construction boom is not done yet.
“So far this year, we’ve approved building permits for 136 new homes that range from a single-family home to a 53-unit apartment building and already that’s the fifth-best year for the city of Altoona since the year 2000,” said Clements.
Clements says most housing from apartments to homes is usually sold before construction is finished. He says one of the reasons for the demand in the Chippewa Valley is its relative affordability.
