CHIPPEWA FALLS Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Following the news of Peters’ death, the Chippewa Falls area unified school district said in a statement it had increased security measures. 10-year-old Iliana Peters was a fourth-grade student at Parkview Elementary. In a letter to families, Chippewa Falls superintendent Jeff Holmes said staff in district buildings were on high alert and a larger law enforcement presence in schools and surrounding areas were requested.
Holmes also recommended students who normally walk to school be picked up and dropped off by trusted family members or friends until further notice. Families are asked to remain vigilant and to report anything out of the ordinary to law enforcement.
