It’s official, changes are coming to Eau Claire’s winter parking ordinance. The measure was passed by the Eau Claire city council earlier this evening in a 7 to 2 vote. Starting November 1st, which is this Sunday, alternate side parking will only be in effect when there’s a full residential plow operation. The alternate parking lasts for 72 hours from midnight to 5 pm each of the three days. Previously, vehicles had to park on alternate sides of the street every night from November 1st to May 1st.
Phil Fieber: “This we think will give us much more time to be able to do some plowing during the day, which will actually improve the amount of parking spaces in a lot of these residential streets.”
City of Eau Claire public works director Phil Fieber says there will be at least six hours notice before alternate parking takes effect.
