Child trafficking concerns in Eau Claire

Local News

EAU CLAIRE, WIS. (WLAX/WEUX) – Over the weekend, the Eau Claire Police Department responded to a report of a possible attempted abduction. On Saturday, a woman contacted police claiming a man had walked up to her and her daughter in a parking lot and was attempting to get her daughter to go with him.

Police say while the man was not necessarily doing anything illegal, it was enough to raise concern. Police arrived on scene and contacted the man and got his information in case he is involved in any future incidents. They are now reminding the community to be vigilant.

Josh Miller, Eau Claire Police Department said, “We do get a lot of calls like that, people in this community are very vigilant. They’re very aware of these kinds of things and we welcome those kinds of calls.”

“They should be calling us if they feel something is off even if it is completely innocent, we would like to know about it so we can document any kind of pattern that’s going on.”
