Chippewa County looking to start crime stoppers

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Chippewa county is hoping to add a new tool in its fight against drugs and crime.

The county is working to create its own Crime Stoppers program.

Crime Stoppers is a national organization that counties across Wisconsin use to report crimes.

Rose Baier with Chippewa County says through the program, people can use an app to send tips anonymously.

“It’s called a p-3 app that people could download on their phone for free and put a tip in there and it actually has an email version and a web version and also a phone call that you can make that is guaranteed to remain completely anonymous,” said Baier.

Bair says crime stoppers is community driven. She is looking for passionate volunteers to help get the ball rolling.
