CHIPPEWA FALLS Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A person who was arrested after a shooting in Chippewa Falls over the weekend will appear in court this morning. According to Chippewa Falls Police Chief Matt Kelm, the suspect in the attempted murder has a hearing set for 10.

They say on Saturday, officers responded to a home on Birch Street for a report of a woman who had been shot around 8:30 pm. Upon arriving, officers found the victim and had her treated and taken to the hospital.

By 10:30, officers found the suspect, who had fled, and they were taken into custody and the gun used was found. Chief Kelm says the suspect and the victim know each other, and there is no danger to the public. We will have continuing coverage of this case as more information is released.
