CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The mayor of Chippewa Falls is resting at home, recovering from COVID-19’s delta variant.

Gregory Hoffman says he contracted the virus two weeks ago and is unsure where exactly he got it.

Hoffman has asthma and other underlying conditions that added to the severity of symptoms.

He’s been in the hospital twice but is now feeling better.

Hoffman credits being vaccinated as the reason his illness wasn’t more severe

Hoffman said, “What I have would have been much worse if I had not been vaccinated. In fact, i was told by a couple doctors and nurses that if I had not been vaccinated that they would be going to my funeral rather than having me heal”

Hoffman’s wife, daughter, and grandson are also recovering from covid. Hoffman says he’s got about another two to four weeks of recovery ahead of him before being 100 percent.
