CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A Chippewa Falls woman has been sentenced to five and a half years in prison for trying to hire a hitman to kill the father of her child.

49-year-old Melanie Schrader was also sentenced to 7 years of extended supervision. Court documents showed Schrader and her child’s father had a history of custody issues.

After receiving a tip, investigators set up a sting, which led to Shcrader’s arrest.

A criminal complaint stated Schrader agreed to pay a person she thought was a hitman 10,000 dollars to kill her child’s father.

Last month, Schrader pleaded guilty to the charge of solicitation of 1st-degree intentional homicide.
