Chippewa Fresh Start program builds homes and builds better lives

Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A western dairyland program is helping to build homes and better futures for at-risk youth.

Chippewa Fresh Start provides youth ages 17 to 24 with education assistance, employment skills and career development.

Over the past year, participants built a home from start to finish in fall creek.

That house will be for sale for income-eligible families.

Members say the program’s impact goes far beyond building homes

“With my time with Fresh Start I’ve had the opportunity do a job shadow work experience with the city,” said Christian Billings. “They helped me get caught up in school because I had some missing credits and they also helped me get my driver’s license.”
