CORNELL, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A retired couple from Cornell has a new set of wheels thanks to Chippewa Valley Mazda.

After driving a ’97 Chevy for 20 plus years, Navy Veteran Gil and his wife Jean were handed the keys to a new reliable mode of transportation.

Chippewa Valley Mazda heard they were having difficulties going to doctors’ appointments and getting to the grocery store and knew they wanted to help.

Bill Bertrand, Chippewa Valley Mazda owner said, “A lot of times when we give cars away in the community we think of people’s situations who are urgent or dire and things like that, this is just a really good feel-good story.”

We’re doing alright! Overwhelmed with joy. Later on, we might take it out, go around just check it out, to make sure we’re doing everything right,” said said Gil and Jean Skroch.

This was the second car giveaway of the winter for the dealership as part of their ’60 days of giving’ campaign.

The Skroch’s received $500 for gas as well.
