It was an afternoon full of holiday cheer in downtown Eau Claire as thousands stopped down for Christmastime in the City. Fox’s Abigail Hantke reports from today’s holiday gathering.
Downtown Eau Claire was filled with thousands of people, all in holiday spirit, for Christmastime in the City. The Duss Family from Eau Claire said, “It just sounded fun and festive and something we could do as a family and with such nice weather we figured it’s a good opportunity to get outside.”
Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. Communications Coordinator, Salina Heller, says this event just keeps getting bigger and better. Keller said, “We are growing our events are growing, they’re getting bigger, people now just love coming downtown and being a part of the community and that’s what we’re really all about is just growing the community and having people have the sense of pride in their community that they want to just come and be a part of things.”
Families and kids ate lunch with Santa, decorated cookies, drank hot cocoa, and went for a horse drawn wagon ride. Heller says the horse drawn wagon rides have been such a success in the past, people were here super early and got two wagons this year instead of one. Holiday karaoke and a few of Santa’s reindeer were also on site this afternoon.
“We love to support local events and Braylon was excited to see Santa and the reindeer.”
Salina Heller continued, “To celebrate all the activity, downtown the young entrepreneurs that are moving downtown, it’s pretty cool, just the movement that is going on.”
