City of Eau Claire agrees to join Sonnentag Complex project

Local News

On Tuesday afternoon, the Eau Claire City Council voted to unanimously sign a letter of intent to join the Sonnentag Complex project.

The city, UW-Eau Claire, Visit Eau Claire and the Eau Claire Community Complex Inc. will partner in the around $100 million complex on Menomonie Street.

With the new partnership, the event center is expected to expand from 4,100 people to 5,100 people, which would cost the city $6 to $7 million.

The letter of intent shows the event center would host at least 10 entertainment events and 15 tournaments per year.

UWEC hopes to break ground on the new facility in July.
